Born in Nancy, France in July 1927, Colin's life was one of commitment to the arts. He was a stage designer, credited with designing over 800 sets. In 1927, he published an edition of the lithographs he had made of dancer Josephine Baker and her revue in Paris in 1927, quickly selling over 500 copies.
